What I worked on this week 5/29/2021

This is my weekly status post. This is just as a reminder of what was fascinating to work on over the past week. Expect some vagueness, because I want this to be 10 minutes or less.

Communication: Communication turned out to be the central theme of the week. First, it was ensuring that a team we transferred a service over to learned that no meant no. We had to reiterate this several times this week. I anticipate it will be an issue going forward for a while yet.

Second, it was learning about a planned service change that had been in the works for several months. They chose to engage us this week. The change happens next week, and of course, we have to scramble to make it work. Now I have to wait for the end of the long weekend in order to deploy. My personal reminder to myself, and you, dear reader, that stakeholders are anyone dependent on your service.

OKR Planning: We did more of this, and I really should spend some time on Monday writing that blog post about OKR’s. I think our group is in a healthy place with regards to them, and it’s good to see the flexibility and planning really paying off in multiple ways.

Mental Health: My mental health has been decent, although there have been some struggles this week. I had lunches with friends, outdoors, twice this week. It’s been the highlight of my week. I am also planning to go camping with my sons this long weekend, and spend time with my girls hiking. Yay 3-day weekends!

Have a great weekend!
