What I worked on this week 4/24/2021

This is my weekly status post. This is just as a reminder of what was fascinating to work on over the past week. Expect some vagueness, because I want this to be 10 minutes or less.

Azure Data Factory: I made more progress on the data workflows for data from our HR systems. Still waiting on approvals to flow through our systems, which is taking forever! I also got to play around with what a git repo looks like after ADF. Here’s a small sample of that blog post that will be coming.

What the ever-loving??

Migrations: I have one service migrating in, and one migrating out. Well, I only made progress on the one going out this week. One more week and it’s off my plate. As a side note, helped the new team talk through how to design a Database System to handle the HA and DR needs, as well as for RPO and RTO. No need to build a nuclear aircraft carrier when a cruiser will do.

Azure Pipelines: I found a new function in Yaml, Coalesce, which is AWESOME. It works just like in T-SQL, and I couldn’t be happier. I also started looking at what it would take to transition from TFS to AzDo pipelines, and we’re all manual! Ugh. Ok, back to the drawing board, I guess.

Have a great weekend!
